Wired vs. Wireless Screen Mirroring for Mobile Games: Is There Really a Difference?
The answer most people expect: wired is faster, wireless is laggy, pick accordingly.
The actual answer: it depends on the wireless solution. With the right one, you cannot tell the difference.

Why People Assume Wired Is Better
The assumption comes from a real place. Most wireless mirroring options add noticeable lag.
AirPlay on a congested network: 30ms to 200ms. Chromecast screen mirroring for gaming: often 1 to 3 seconds. Generic screen mirroring apps: some clock in at 5 to 6 seconds of delay. At those numbers, wired wins every time.

- Not all phones have the right port. USB-C to HDMI requires DisplayPort Alt Mode support, which not every Android phone has. iPhones need a Lightning or USB-C Digital AV Adapter.
- Adapters add cost and another thing to lose. A quality adapter runs $10 to $35 depending on brand. GCast works over WiFi you already have.
